After Your Lip Filler Treatment
Lip Filler Aftercare Instructions
The following aftercare instructions apply specifically to lip filler treatments.
Follow the individualized instructions provided by your Elevate Evansville provider to help minimize side effects and support the healing process.
Immediately After Treatment
- Swelling, tenderness, and possible bruising are expected and generally subside within approximately 3–7 days.
- Apply ice gently using a clean cloth for 10-minute intervals during the first 24 hours.
- Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the lips.
The First 24–48 Hours
- Avoid alcohol.
- Avoid excessive salt.
- Avoid spicy foods.
- Do not apply makeup to the treated area for at least 12 hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercise.
- Avoid saunas and extreme heat.
- Remain upright and avoid lying flat for 4 hours after treatment.
Days 2–7
- Continue using ice if swelling persists.
- Small lumps should only be gently massaged if specifically instructed by the provider.
- Avoid facials, chemical peels, and laser treatments for approximately 1–2 weeks.
Healing and Results Timeline
- Step 1
3–7 Days
Swelling, tenderness, and bruising generally improve during this period.
- Step 2
7–14 Days
Full results are generally visible once the swelling has subsided.
- Step 3
Touch-Up Appointments
A touch-up appointment may be scheduled if needed based on the provider’s recommendation.
Healing time and individual results may vary.

- Severe or prolonged pain
- Blanching or whitening of the lips
- Darkening of the lips
- Increasing firmness
- Hard lumps
- Signs of infection, including pus, fever, or chills
